Born in Nashville, to a military family, Chris Brochu is most notable for his role as Luke Parker on the immensely popular The CW series, “The Vampire Diaries.” Over the course of his career, he has established a vast repertoire of guest starring roles on hit series such as: Major Crimes, CSI: NY, NCIS: Los Angeles, and Melissa and Joey. While Chris initially moved to Los Angeles to pursue his love of music, he quickly discovered a passion for acting. Shortly after arriving in Los Angeles, Chris landed guest starring roles on Hannah Montana, Zoey 101 and Unfabulous. It was then that he decided to continue developing his acting craft, which lead to him starring as Timmy Hamilton in the feature film, Soul Surfer alongside Helen Hunt, Dennis Quaid and Anna Sophia Robb. In 2011, Chris was able to showcase his musical abilities and have his two passions come together after being casted in the musical Disney Channel Original Movie Lemonade Mouth. Additionally, Chris can be seen in the independent feature film Dawn Patrol opposite Scott Eastwood and Rita Wilson. While he is a seasoned actor, Chris’s first passion has always been music; after all it was that passion that led him to Los Angeles in the first place.
Growing up, Chris considered himself musically sheltered. His father would sing James Taylor songs to him as a child as his mother was listening to gospel music. Chris attributes both genres as early influences on his own musical taste. As he grew older and was exposed to a variety of music genres, he realized that other types of music resonated with him as well. He soon appreciated music as a form of expression and a way to externalize his own emotions. He wrote his first song after experiencing a devastating break up and from then on, the process came very naturally to him. From that moment on, he knew he had to express and explore the world through music.
It was a youth group mentor that ultimately influenced Chris into not only writing, but also playing his own music. The guitar was the instrument that quickly caught his attention and other than some guidance on a couple chord progressions from his mentor, Chris is a self-taught guitarist. He would listen to songs on the radio and try to figure out the notes. As his passion evolved, so did his musical abilities; Chris now writes, plays, funds all of his own music, and continues to push his boundaries as an artist.
Chris is set to release his debut EP, titled “Life,” on August 4, 2015. All of the songs on the EP were inspired by real events that Chris has experienced and mirror as a diary of his life. The songs showcase the impact certain events had on his personal life. He describes the upcoming EP as if someone was going on a journey through his life; “The first song C.M.B introduces the listener to my personal life and all the influences that have inspired me thus far. The second track Out There is a bit of a love letter to every person who will listen to it. The third Head Up is a song dealing with the hardships of life. All Is Well is the fourth song dealing with perspective. The fifth song My Crew introduces you to the people and in my life and the lifestyle we lead. And the final song Rain or Shine is a promise I made to myself and to the world.”
Chris currently resides in Los Angeles.
